Transition Timeline for New iOS & Android Mobile App

DATE:
AUTHOR: The SafetyChain Team

As shared previously, we are readying a new mobile application for iOS & Android devices that features a user-friendly interface that was designed with frontline workers in mind. This new app is built on a best-in-class, highly flexible architectural framework that provides a fitting foundation for the future of SafetyChain mobile and we are thrilled to have so many of our customers already testing and familiarizing themselves with it!

If you haven’t yet, it’s time to get ready because the new mobile app is hitting the Google Play and Apple App stores in less than two weeks!

Things To Know:

  • SafetyChain is introducing an all-new* mobile application for iOS & Android that will replace the existing M2 app.

    • *This is not a version upgrade but a completely new app that will replace the existing one.

  • All customers that use SafetyChain on iOS or Android^ devices need to complete the transition to the new mobile application by October 15th.

    • ^The Windows app does not need to be replaced.

  • If you have not already, it is time to create a change management plan for your organization.

  • SafetyChain will continue supporting the M2 app throughout the transition so you can have a phased roll out across your devices if you wish.

  • SafetyChain has been hard at work creating supporting materials and tools to help you with this transition. See the list of available resources at the bottom of this post and keep an eye out for more next week.

  • The Beta testing period has been a huge success and we want to make sure all of our customers have a chance to participate. With that in mind, we have made a few updates to our timeline (see below) that will allow customers utilizing an MDM to access the Beta app as soon as possible.

Key Dates:

  • July 22-31: Customer Beta Testing Period

  • July 31-August 15: M3 Beta App available for continued testing, training and feedback through Test Flight in iOS and Open Testing build in Android

  • August 20-September 13th: M3 Beta App available for training and change management, deployment prep through the App Store as a full production app

    • Customers that use an MDM will be able to download and deploy the Beta app, which provides more time for training and testing before the app hits General Availability.

  • September 16: General Availability. The app can be downloaded and used as your full production app to replace M2.

  • October 15th: Fully transitioned to the new application and no longer using M2

  • November 1: The M2 app will no longer be able to receive updates from SafetyChain or Android and iOS. It will no longer be available in the store for download or through APK files.

  • Final Date being Determined: Users logging into the old M2 application will be prompted to download the new application and will not be able to use the M2 app.

Supporting Materials:

  1. Clickable Walkthrough of the app

  2. Beta Checklist to provide guidance for testing - as desired
