Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)

AUTHOR: The SafetyChain Team

What's New

Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) is now Generally Available to all Supplier package customers. We've made a set of targeted improvements to the SCAR experience that reduce friction in everyday supplier corrective action workflows. SCARs are now more flexible to cover additional supplier use cases, approved supplier work is easier to review, and the emails your suppliers receive match the urgency of the request. If you're new to SCAR, see the Availability section below to get set up and read previous release notes here.

Flexible Item Resources on SCARs

SCARs no longer require exactly one Item Resource. You can now create a SCAR with no Item Resource at all, ideal for supplier-level corrective actions that aren't tied to a specific item, or with multiple Item Resources, for incidents affecting more than one item, such as a damaged multi-item load. The single Supplier Resource requirement is unchanged.

View approved supplier Tasks from the CAPA Management table

Approved supplier Task submissions can now be viewed directly in the CAPA Management table, without opening the CAPA slide-out. Teams managing multiple SCARs at once can review approved supplier work right from the frequently used CAPA Management table.

A purpose-built Corrective Action Task email for suppliers

When a SCAR external Task is distributed to the Supplier Portal, your supplier now receives a dedicated Corrective Action Task email instead of the generic "New Requirements" notification. The new template reflects the corrective and time-sensitive nature of the request, so suppliers understand what's being asked and why it matters. Requirements notifications are unaffected, and the "New Corrective Action Task Assigned" notification can be configured in Admin Tools.

Benefits

  • SCARs now match real-world supplier incidents: supplier-level issues need no placeholder item, and multi-item events are captured on a single SCAR instead of several.

  • Reviewing approved supplier work takes seconds from the CAPA Management table and cuts clicks for teams that handle many SCARs in parallel.

  • Suppliers receive communication that matches the urgency of a corrective action, which means faster responses and fewer misunderstood requests.

  • Notification configuration in Admin Tools keeps your supplier communications under your control.

Availability

These improvements are available beginning July 14, 2026 for customers using SCAR with external Tasks.

If you're already using SCAR through the Limited Availability (LA) program, no action is needed, the new improvements will appear automatically in your environment. If you're a Supplier package customer new to SCAR, reach out to your CSM to confirm you're ready to configure SCAR with external Tasks, as this requires migration to Supplier 2.0.

For the full picture of SCAR external Tasking, see the SCAR - External Tasks article in the Knowledge Base. If you're not yet using SCAR external Tasks and want to bring supplier corrective actions into SafetyChain, your CSM can walk you through enablement.
