SafetyChain for Windows (PC App v7.0) is now available in the Microsoft Store
SafetyChain for Windows (PC App v7.0) is now available in the Microsoft Store. v7.0 rebuilds the PC app on Microsoft's current Windows framework (WinUI 3) and brings the PC app to parity with mobile and web on several key workflows.
In case you missed it — check out the 7.0 preview article in the Improvements Hub.
v7.0 installs as a new, separate app — it does not update your existing PC app automatically. It's opt-in, and it can run side by side with your current app while you validate it. Once v7.0 is working for your team, we recommend uninstalling the previous app (sync in-progress records first). See the Before You Upgrade guide before you roll out (Knowledge Base).
What's new
Platform modernization (UWP → WinUI 3) — The app now runs as a standard Windows desktop application instead of in the UWP sandbox, improving hardware compatibility and peripheral support. Core workflows — submitting forms, working with scales, offline mode — are unchanged. No retraining required. The interface has been modernized with updated styling on the same workflows. Minimum requirement: Windows 10 or later on a 64-bit (x64 or ARM64) device.
Dynamic Flow — attachment carryover — Attachments added to a Dynamic Flow form now carry forward into subsequent steps on PC, matching existing mobile and web behavior.
Dynamic Flow — attachment & value locking (new, all platforms) — Carried-forward attachments can be configured as locked (can't be removed or replaced downstream), and carried-forward field values can be configured as read-only once set. On PC, carried-over attachments appear in a "From previous step" section, separate from newly added attachments.
New Filters experience — Search filters and sort now live in a dropdown menu — same options, streamlined access.
Logs, on by default — Logs no longer require manual enablement. When something goes wrong, users just need to send them.
Time Now expressions — Time fields configured with Time Now now hold their value after a form is saved and reopened (previously recalculated on PC), so process-duration workflows behave reliably. Now unified across web, mobile, and PC.
Bug fixes
Fixed an issue where location filtering was not honored after a user's assigned location was changed, leaving forms from previous locations available.
Resolved an issue where changing locales multiple times in a single session could result in incomplete globalization across screens.
Fixed inconsistent behavior when entering numbers up to 29 digits (maximum allowed) in numeric fields, including cases where the leading digit affected character limits and where decimals were handled differently than whole numbers.
Fixed an issue where the leading zero in minutes was omitted on time stamps shown in in-app chart submission tiles.
Resolved an issue where line breaks in paragraph text fields submitted from the PC app were not preserved in the resulting record in Web/LINK.
Corrected audit scoring on forms with N/A fields so that fields with blank value weights are removed from the scoring calculation rather than treated as zero, aligning PC behavior with the Web and mobile platforms.
Fixed an issue where Dynamic Flow did not carry over Select Multiple field values from a source task to the target form.
Resolved an issue where GS1-enabled fields did not map through Dynamic Flow when both source and target fields were configured for GS1, causing mapped values to return empty.
MSIX / Managed Deployment
If you deploy the PC app via MSIX (MDM, sideloading, or other managed method), note that the store version and the MSIX version are not interchangeable — you stay on whichever method you install from, or do a fresh install to switch.
The MSIX distribution method is still being finalized and is not yet available. It will follow this Store release; the timeline is still being determined.
To request MSIX package when ready, complete the short deployment survey. This is required before we can provide the package — it tells us your devices, MDM platform, and deployment setup.
