Introducing the Form Designer Walk-Through Guides!

AUTHOR: The SafetyChain Team

Beginning on Friday, 7/12/2024, users accessing the Forms Manager will be greeted by a guide on creating a new form. This guide, containing a step-by-step tour, is designed to walk new users through how to create a basic check form, as well as more experienced users who may want a refresh on how to create a new form.

What can you expect?

Once a user lands in the Forms Manager, for the first time only, they will see a pop-up inviting them to take a guided tour (those who are already familiar with creating new forms can simply close the guide by selecting the ‘X’, if they wish to do so).

This guided tour addresses some of the common issues users come across when using form designer, including:

  • Location permissions and how this relates to forms via resources

  • Tips for best practices on resource assignment to forms

  • Ensuring one window is open to ensure changes are saved

  • Reminders to not use special characters in short names

  • Additional form building best practices

This tour generally takes less than 5 minutes to complete and will be available to any users who have access to the forms manager in SafetyChain beginning 7/12/2024. No further action is needed on your part to enable, but we hope this helps provide even more guidance on tips & tricks for using the form designer.

Can I see the walk-through guide later?

If a user closes the guide but wants to take the tour later, the guide can simply be initiated by selecting the question mark icon next to Forms Manager:

In addition to the guide for creating a new form, two additional guides will be available when the question mark icon is selected. These guides include instructions for creating a basic dependency or expression rule within a form.

We hope you find these guides helpful and useful for self-guided learning and education. Be sure to keep an eye out for more walk-throughs like this in the future!
